Backstage Assistant

Work with festival stage managers to keep performer’s personal property safe when they are on stage.

Bike Parking

Free Guarded Bicycle Parking Volunteers will help check-in and check-out bicycles for festival goers.

Bucket Brigade

Spend your volunteer time near the Music Stages! Provide the opportunity for festival goers to support the festival with a donation as you pass through the crowd. Last year we raised over $25,000!

Buddy

Greet and orient performers to festival site and East Lansing. Help transport performers from Marriott to performance stages. (Must have full weekend availability.)

Children’s Area – Kidlore

Facilitate children’s activities (games crafts and performances) by assisting and encouraging children’s participation, Assist with visitor questions and safety.

GLFF Marketplace

Work in the Folk Arts Marketplace (craft vending area) Provide general assistance and serve as booth sitters.

Information Booth

Provide information to the general public, including performance times, restroom locations, transportation options, directions…

Jam Tent

Ensure Jam Sessions run smoothly by helping with the needs of jam hosts and participants, managing seating area, and assisting with evaluation measures by handing out and collecting forms.

J.O.A.T.M.O.T.

(Jack OAll Trades, Master ONone, formerly “Floater”) Act as a fill-in at sites that need assistance during the festival.

Operations

Assist in the operations office just before and during the festival. Job tasks could range from phone or radio duty to running supplies to stages. Must be able to walk from one end of the site to the other in 10 minutes or less, and be able to lift 25 lbs. Experience with golf cart driving and hand tool use a plus.

Recycling

Assist with recyclables (especially paper and #1 bottles) at the Festival. Distribute containers, monitor containers, then collect containers and recyclables for pick up by MSU Recycling. Let’s see how much we can divert from the waste stream.

Sales- Performer Merchandise

Assist with performer CD sales and performer related Festival souvenirs.

Set-up/Take down

Volunteers will set up and/or take down Site signs, Tent signs, Banners (will use ladders and hand tools).

Site Coordinator

Oversee audience areas at stages and resolve issues such as seating, crowd control, and lost children.

Transportation

Transport performers, staff and equipment to music stages.  Some carts will also help people with mobility issues move around the festival site as well. Must be able to safely drive a golf cart.

Volunteer Registration

Check-in volunteers prior to each shift at the Marriott Hotel. Good job for those who need to be seated most of the time and/or stay out of the sun.
